CricNerd began the way most obsessions do — with a question that wouldn't go away. Watching yet another expert confidently predict a match winner with nothing behind the claim, our founder — an engineer and lifelong cricket fan from India — kept wondering: what would honest cricket prediction actually look like?Not "this team will win, trust me," but real probabilities, for real players, derived from real data, updated after every match, and published openly whether they land or miss.

Answering that question properly took an unreasonable amount of engineering. It meant building a ball-by-ball database from scratch, where every one of thousands of players carries a unique, verified identity — so that two cricketers who share a name can never have their records mixed up (a surprisingly common flaw in cricket data). It meant machine-learning models trained on hundreds of thousands of deliveries. It meant automated systems that watch live matches, ingest each result within minutes, and quietly re-compute every forecast for the next game — while the founder sleeps. Built lean with modern AI-assisted engineering, CricNerd runs the kind of data operation that once required an entire analytics department.

Everything on CricNerd stands on our own ball-by-ball database: more than 850,000 professional deliveriesacross 4,600+ matches — men's T20 internationals, fourteen seasons of the IPL (2013–2026), all ten men's T20 World Cups ever played, the Pakistan Super League, the Big Bash League, and women's internationals including the Women's T20 World Cup. Career records span every format, from Tests to T20s.

Live match data comes from a professional licensed sports-data provider; historical records are built from reputable public cricket archives. Every player, team, and venue is keyed to a unique identifier, and our automated consistency audits sweep the database for gaps or contradictions — because a stats site that mixes up two players named Sharma isn't a stats site you can trust.

🤖 How Our Predictions Work

Our forecasts come from machine-learning models trained on that delivery-level history. For each covered T20 match, the models evaluate every squad player's recent form, career scoring patterns, batting role, the conditions, and the opposition — and express what they find as probabilities across score ranges: the chance of a quiet innings, a solid 20–49, or a fifty-plus score. Each forecast carries a short plain-English explanation of what is driving it.

Three rules keep the system honest. Verified squads only: we publish a forecast when a tour squad has been officially announced (or the series is underway) — never guesses about who might play. One live forecast per series: predictions roll forward match by match, absorbing each result, instead of flooding pages with stale upfront guesses. Probabilities, not promises:T20 cricket is gloriously volatile — even the world's best batters fail more often than casual fans assume, and our numbers reflect that truth rather than hiding it.
